Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to identify and address communication disorders. Your expertise will help students develop the skills they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess students with speech and language disorders and develop individualized plans to address their needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and group therapy sessions to students to improve their communication skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement strategies to support students with communication disorders.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and involve them in the remedial process.
  • Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings to assist in the interpretation of assessment data and goal setting for students with communication disorders.
  • Administer initial assessments and re-evaluations as required for an FIE and write an FIE report.
  • Provide consultation to school staff and contract assessment service providers in complex situations.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other required documents, including applications for NPI numbers and SHARS billing within required timelines.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the Texas Department of Licensing (TDLR).
  • Ability to use accepted tests and measurements to assess communication disorders and conditions.
  • Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions.
  • Ability to instruct and manage student behavior.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate well in oral and written form.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of computers, word processing, and software related to the field.
  • Clinical Fellow or 1 year of experience.
Working Conditions:

The Speech Language Pathologist will work in a school setting, interacting with students, teachers, and parents. The position requires frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. The Speech Language Pathologist may also be required to work with students who have physical disabilities, controlling behavior through physical restraint, assisting non-ambulatory students, and lifting and moving adaptive and other classroom equipment.

Evaluation:

The performance of this position will be evaluated annually based on the completion of ARD paperwork, maintenance of audit files, electronic files, and paperwork, and compliance with district policies and procedures.
