As a key member of the laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing standardized laboratory tests to determine the chemical and physical characteristics of hydrocarbons and water samples.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct gas chromatography analysis, octane testing, volatility, and physical properties testing of refining feedstock and intermediates.
- Provide timely and accurate data entry of lab results.
- Ensure compliance with industry standard specifications through finished product testing.
- Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
- Interpret and report data.
- Apply QA/QC laboratory protocols to ensure high data accuracy and monitor precision of critical tests.
- Perform basic instrumentation troubleshooting and calibration.
- Demonstrate competency in lab techniques with consistent and proper use of instrumentation, equipment, and glassware.
- Execute work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science with a minimum of 20 credit hours in Chemistry.
- Working knowledge and application of wet chemistry.
- Ability to follow procedures/guidelines by the American Society for Testing and Material and EPA Regulatory methods.
- Understand the fundamentals of a QA/QC system.
- Basic knowledge of petroleum products.
- Ability to work rotating, 12-hour shifts, and overtime as required.
- Must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- 2 years related laboratory experience.
- Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) experience.
- Strong analytical chemistry skills with emphasis on modern instrumental analysis (GC, UV/Vis, NIR).
- Extensive experience utilizing PCs and MS Office Suites (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Octane experience is a plus.
