We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Rail Yard Laborer and Hostler Driver at our BNSF Spokane, WA Rail Terminal.

About the Role

This is an entry-level position that requires no prior railroad experience. We offer on-the-job training, where you'll learn everything you need to know to be successful in this role.

The job combines the responsibilities of a Hostler Driver and Ground Person, requiring you to operate a jockey truck, maneuvering 53ft trailers, containers, and chassis around the rail yard.

As a Rail Yard Laborer and Hostler Driver, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Operating a jockey truck to move trailers, containers, and chassis around the rail yard
  • Engaging in ground duties, such as climbing on and off railcars, securing tracks, and handling inner box connectors (IBCs)
  • Assisting crane operators with equipment loading and unloading using hand signals
  • Loading and unloading chassis racks, as well as stacking and unstacking chassis

You'll also have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and team-oriented environment, fulfilling other assigned duties as needed.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license
  • Pass a 7-year background check
  • Pass a drug test and a physical capabilities test
  • Have strong communication skills
