Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer to join our Outreach Program at Northern Light Health. As an Athletic Trainer, you will provide athletic training services to patients under the direction of the NL Sports Health Medical Director or by written referral from a provider in accordance with Maine state athletic training licensure laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide athletic training services to patients, including prevention, acute and emergent care, assessment, treatment, reconditioning and rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Develop and implement injury prevention programs, including dynamic warm-ups and ACL injury prevention.
  • Perform in-depth, systematic assessments relative to chief complaints of patients.
  • Discuss assessment findings and measurable goals with patients based on estimated length of recovery for various diagnoses.
  • Utilize subjective and objective evaluation results to plan appropriate treatment programs.
  • Administer proper use of therapeutic modalities, including mechanical stimulation, heat, cold, light, air, water, electricity, sound, manual therapy and massage.
  • Instruct patients and families on relevant topics, including concussion care, injury management, care, and prevention.
  • Provide medical coverage of home-sanctioned athletic events and away football and playoff games at assigned schools and other events as assigned by the manager.
  • Develop and maintain Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for contracted sites.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for athletic training rooms at contracted sites.
  • Provide input and recommendations to the Athletic Director at site for an effective budget that will cover the projected costs of equipment and supplies needed to maintain quality and safety of student-athlete care.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Board Certified Athletic Trainer.
  • Maine state licensure or licensure eligible.
  • BLS/CPR/AED certification.
  • 1-5 years' experience as an ATC.
  • Experience and familiarity with athletic training in the secondary school setting, preferred.
