Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Monitor Technician

As a Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Monitor, you will play a vital role in creating and maintaining an optimal environment for the testing, training, and education of Cardiac and Pulmonary patients. You will work under the direction of the RN, Respiratory Therapist, or Exercise Specialist to perform a variety of clinical and technical tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate Remote telemetry system and correctly place EKG electrodes for monitoring.
Interpret rhythm strips and document interpretation in patient electronic record.
Recognize both normal and abnormal rhythms on monitor and notify RN of abnormal findings upon recognition.
Clean telemetry monitors between patient use with approved wipes.
Obtain accurate vital signs and record blood pressure, pulse, and pulse oximeter reading.
Perform blood glucose tests and accurately operate the blood glucose monitor.
Obtain accurate patient weight using the standing scale and document in patient record.
Correctly reapply oxygen via cannula or mask.
Assist with patient ambulation/transfers from equipment and assist patient in setting up exercise equipment under the direction of the RN, RT, or Exercise Specialist.
Transport patients to and from the Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehab to the main lobby. Utilize wheelchair and gait belts appropriately.
Maintain and demonstrate proper use of unit supplies and equipment. Maintain and clean equipment as recommended by the manufacturer's guidelines.
Enter work orders and notify the appropriate person when a piece of equipment needs maintenance and place it out of order.
Check stock levels, restock, and clean patient care areas and other areas/duties as assigned.
Answer the department phone and direct calls to the appropriate person. Cancel or reschedule appointments in EMR when patients call in.
Complete patient registration in EMR on patient's first visit to Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehab. Check patients in for exercise sessions in EMR.
Schedule patient exercise sessions in EMR for new patients.
Make follow-up calls for patient referrals for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab. Document all calls in the patient referral in the EMR.
Call insurances to obtain patient benefit information and to obtain precertification if required. Document all insurance information in the patient referral.
Schedule patients for entry into Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehab. Reschedule patient exercise sessions or schedule additional exercise sessions for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab.
Maintain documentation and statistics for clients including participation, activities, referrals, and ancillary activities.
Ensure equipment in the cardiac rehab is maintained in a safe manner.
Demonstrate commitment to ethical business practices and corporate compliance initiative.
Demonstrate commitment to effective customer relations.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
High School Diploma
Patient experience preferred
Medical Terminology knowledge preferred
Passed and maintained Basic Dysrhythmia and PCT training
