Experienced Deputy Sheriff

The Prince George's County Office of the Sheriff is seeking qualified candidates to fill multiple permanent, full-time positions of Experienced Sheriff Private. This role is part of the Winter 2024 Academy Class.

As an Experienced Deputy Sheriff, you will provide effective and efficient law enforcement services to the residents of Prince George's County. You will perform general law enforcement and investigations, controlling and serving warrants, and extraditing persons wanted on criminal warrants. You will also transport prisoners to and from various institutions and courts throughout the State of Maryland and the United States.

• Provide law enforcement services to the residents of Prince George's County
• Perform general law enforcement and investigations
• Control and serve warrants
• Extradite persons wanted on criminal warrants
• Transport prisoners to and from various institutions and courts
• Arrest, detain, and process prisoners
• Serve civil processes and summonses
• Execute writs and court orders
• Maintain security in courtrooms
• Monitor prisoners in holding areas
• Perform court-related house evictions
• Complete reports

• U.S. Citizen
• High School graduate or possess a G.E.D.
• Currently certified by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission and have completed at least one year as a full-time Police Officer in the State of Maryland
• At least 21 years of age
• Possess a valid driver's license and at least 6 months' driving experience
• Pass all qualification factors listed in the Additional Information
• Registered with Selective Service

• 60+ college credit hours
