Sports Performance Assistant Coach

Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Sports Performance Assistant Coach - Olympic Sports / Education Support Specialist II. In this pivotal position, you will contribute to a prestigious Division I athletics program that prioritizes the holistic development of student-athletes. This role offers a unique opportunity to acquire both on-field and off-field experience, equipping you for future advancement in the field. Your primary responsibilities will include the design, execution, and management of sport-specific strength and conditioning regimens for several assigned teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the daily nutritional and supplement needs of athletes Assist in the management and maintenance of the Olympic Performance Center Collaborate with the Director of Sports Performance in mentoring and overseeing graduate assistants and interns Demonstrate proficiency in Olympic lifting and strength training techniques, as well as the programming and application of speed, agility, and plyometric training for assigned sports Build and maintain strong relationships with student-athletes, coaching staff, and athletic trainers Perform additional duties as required Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and 1-2 years of applicable experience in a collegiate or professional environment Certification as a CSCS or SCCC is mandatory CPR/AED certification is required Experience with a range of Olympic sports is essential Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's degree is highly desirable USA Weightlifting coaching certification is preferred Additional Information:
This position is part-time, temporary, and classified as non-exempt within pay band 3. Benefits from the Commonwealth of Virginia do not apply to these roles.
