Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways.
  • Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
Requirements:
  • Completion of AMA-approved CRT or RRT program.
  • Licensed by the SC Board of Medical Examiners as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Experience with adult, pediatric, neonatal, and geriatric Respiratory Care and all critical care modes preferred.
