Position: Press Brake Operator
Job Objective: To proficiently operate the Press Brake Machine.
Employment Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently set up and operate the Amada Press Brake Machine.
- Ensure appropriate tooling and fixturing while accurately reporting operational times.
- Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and team members to resolve issues.
- Work within tolerances of +-.005" in sheet metal up to 1⁄4" thick.
- Execute single and multiple setups on a single brake.
- Program and form components at the press brake using blueprints within specified tolerances.
- Document inspection measurements using dial/digital calipers, protractors, and height gauges.
- Handle materials including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and copper.
- Study and adhere to assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, job travelers, facility procedures, and parts lists.
- Maintain organization of products, equipment, tools, supplies, ESD, part handling, and inventory points within the fabrication area.
- Position parts and subassemblies using templates or by interpreting measurements.
- Report any assembly, equipment, material, or quality issues to management for further guidance.
- Complete preventive maintenance according to established schedules and instructions.
- Uphold a safe and tidy work environment by following PPE protocols, work rules, and regulations.
- Document activities by filling out production and quality forms.
- Contribute to team efforts by completing related tasks or rotating through various processes/jobs as directed.
- Operate in accordance with established Company Policies and Procedures.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating a Press Brake.
- Recent experience with setup and operation of press brakes, with preference for Amada press brake experience.
- Familiarity with deburring machines, turret punch presses, shears, and Haegers is advantageous.
- Experience in performing single and multiple setups on one press brake.
- Ability to read blueprints, dial & digital calipers, and height gauges.
- Capable of forming parts within tight tolerances of +-.005".
- Preferred experience in programming dimensions from blueprints.
- Proficient in working with aluminum, steel, and stainless materials.
- Demonstrates strong independent work ethic as well as teamwork skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills suitable for a collaborative environment.
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds without assistance.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and analytical.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
