Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Adjunct Instructor to join our team at Hagerstown Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching non-credit courses in the Personal Enrichment program, which focuses on providing engaging and interactive learning experiences for adult learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver high-quality lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Provide course descriptions and learning objectives to the Program Manager.
  • Design and implement effective instructional strategies to promote student engagement and critical thinking.
  • Utilize technology and various teaching methods to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
  • Build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and program staff to foster a collaborative and supportive community.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in teaching and learning.
Requirements
  • Appropriate education level (will vary based on the course teaching)
  • Previous experience teaching, preferably at a post-secondary level
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in using technology in the classroom
  • Excellent presentation and demonstration skills
  • Ability to build rapport with students and colleagues
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's, Master's degree, or PhD
  • Previous experience teaching adult learners
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace and classroom
