Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Fremont, CA. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of diverse learning needs and be committed to creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruction and Support:
    • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
    • Design and deliver engaging, differentiated instructional activities that accommodate diverse learning styles.
    • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods and materials as needed.
  • Classroom Management:
    • Create and maintain a positive, supportive, and safe classroom environment.
    • Employ behavioral management strategies to address and resolve issues that may impact student learning.
    • Foster a classroom culture of respect, empathy, and inclusivity.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, needs, and any concerns.
    • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of educational goals and strategies.
  • Professional Development:
    • Stay current with best practices in special education and incorporate new strategies into teaching.
    • Attend professional development workshops and trainings as required.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
    • Prepare reports and documentation as required by the school district and state regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Certification:
    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Valid California Special Education Certification (Teacher of Students with Disabilities or equivalent).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in special education (preferred but not required).
    • Experience with various disabilities and learning challenges, including autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and emotional disturbances.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of each student.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs.
    • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and resilience in a challenging environment.
