Description

The University of Mount Union is seeking applications for part-time, non-tenured teaching positions within its undergraduate Art program. We are looking for dynamic MFA graduates or experienced artists specializing in Illustration or Photography to contribute to our academic community.

As an adjunct faculty member, you will play a crucial role in enriching the educational experience of our students through your unique skills, industry insights, and dedication to fostering a vibrant learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Chair of the Department of Visual Arts & Media and fellow faculty members, adjunct instructors will:
  • Design and deliver engaging courses in the Art program, utilizing your professional expertise.
  • Work alongside faculty to enhance the curriculum and improve student learning outcomes.
  • Guide and mentor students in their academic and career aspirations.
  • Build connections with industry professionals to create valuable networking opportunities for students.
  • Stay informed about current trends and advancements in the field to maintain curriculum relevance.
  • Provide instruction that aligns with university and departmental policies.
  • Maintain regular office hours and engage with students consistently.
  • Keep accurate electronic records as required by university standards.
  • Participate in necessary training and technology initiatives to support course delivery.
Qualifications
  • A Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in a relevant discipline is preferred; however, candidates with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) and substantial professional experience will also be considered.
  • Current needs include courses in:
    1. Illustration
    2. Photography I
    3. Photography II
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated professional experience in the area of specialization.
  • Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Recognition in the field through awards, publications, or exhibitions.
  • A robust network of industry contacts.
  • Ability to incorporate technology into teaching methodologies.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and the arts.
  • Consideration for online teaching opportunities for exceptional candidates with relevant experience.
