Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Nursing Services Director in overseeing the daily operations of nursing activities in compliance with applicable regulations and standards governing long-term care facilities.
  • Contribute to the formulation, maintenance, and revision of written policies and procedures that guide the daily operations of the nursing department.
  • Ensure that reference materials (such as PDRs, Federal and State Regulations) available at nursing stations are up-to-date. Propose relevant written resources to assist the nursing department in addressing the daily needs of residents.
  • Maintain the Nursing Service Procedures Manual to ensure it accurately reflects the nursing procedures executed within the facility.
  • Guarantee that all nursing staff adhere to the established procedures outlined in the Nursing Service Procedures Manual.
  • Prepare written and verbal reports/recommendations for the Director as necessary regarding the nursing department's operations.
  • Regularly assess the department's policies, procedure manuals, and job descriptions, making suggestions for updates to the Director.
  • Assist in creating strategies for integrating nursing services with other resident services to ensure a comprehensive approach to resident care.
  • Ensure compliance of all nursing personnel with their respective job descriptions.
  • Engage in the development, maintenance, and execution of the facility's quality assurance program for the nursing department.
  • Participate in facility inspections conducted by authorized governmental agencies as requested by the Administrator or Nursing Services Director.
  • Review and update the written discharge plans for residents as necessary.
  • Assist the Director in planning the nursing services component of the resident's discharge plan as needed.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and support personnel in strategizing the department's services, programs, and activities.
  • Manage the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents as required.
  • Complete necessary accident and incident reports.
  • Clarify the department's policies and procedures to staff, residents, visitors, and governmental agencies as required.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Current RN license in New Jersey.
