Medical Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and record patient data, including medical history and vital signs.
- Prepare instruments for sterilization and maintain a sanitary work area.
- Coordinate and schedule appointments, and verify medical coverage.
- Perform basic cashiering duties, including collecting monies and balancing cash registers.
- Assist providers with treatment procedures, including setting up sterile fields and chaperoning.
- Administer medication, including parenteral and oral medications, and document clinical findings.
- Enter data into computer systems and verify accuracy.
- Provide quality customer service and ensure patient satisfaction.
- High School or GED Equivalent.
- Program Graduate or 2 years of experience in a related field.
- Completion of UNMH MA Safe Med Admin Course within 90 days.
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuers certification.
This role requires heavy physical exertion, including lifting and moving objects weighing up to 100 pounds. The work environment may involve exposure to chemicals and biohazardous materials, and may require travel to various work sites.
