Position Overview:
The Histology Specialist plays a crucial role in the preparation and staining of tissue samples for microscopic analysis, assisting Pathologists in their diagnostic processes. Key responsibilities include:
  • Performing frozen section procedures, embedding tissues, and conducting microtomy.
  • Selecting the most suitable sections for examination.
  • Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Preparing various solutions necessary for tissue processing.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues that may arise during specimen preparation.

Essential Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry (6 hours in each) from an accredited institution or a NAACLS accredited HT or HTL program.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a laboratory setting.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Eligibility for a NAACLS accredited HT or HTL program.
  • One year of full-time experience in a Histology Laboratory.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting specimen preparation techniques.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects effectively, showcasing organizational and technical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for communication with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrated professionalism in high-pressure situations.
