Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

University of Toledo Physicians is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our team in the Trauma Surgery department. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive patient care in the Trauma Surgery department, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Conduct daily multidisciplinary rounds to ensure effective patient care and communication.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Provide education to patients, families, and staff about disease processes and treatment options.
- Initiate and communicate discharge-planning needs to patients and social workers in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program with a Master's Degree in an appropriate field.
- State of Ohio Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- COA from the Board of Nursing to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Ohio State Medical Board to practice as a Physician Assistant.
- BLS Certified.
- Eligible to obtain and/or maintain Certificate to Prescribe/DEA.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work nights only, holidays, and weekends.
- Tolerate a busy environment that requires constant interaction with patients, employees, students, residents, and physicians.
- Requires prolonged walking and standing.
- Occasional lifting of patients sometimes over 200 pounds.
- Occasional carrying of items weighing up to 30 pounds required.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range and manual dexterity.
- Requires the ability to operate various types of office equipment, including but not limited to: Personal computer, fax machines, copiers, telephones.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment on a daily basis.
- Must be able to work effectively both with internal and external customers in stressful situations.
