The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a highly skilled Physician to serve as Hospitalist-Section Chief for Specialty Care Service at the Lake City Veterans Affairs Medical Center. As a key member of the medical team, the successful candidate will be responsible for administrative oversight of the Hospitalist Section, direct supervision of Hospitalist physicians and advanced practice providers, and initiation and oversight of inpatient quality improvement efforts.
About the Job
This is an open continuous announcement. Eligible applicants will be referred until all vacancies are filled. The ideal candidate will have a clinical background and expertise as a Hospitalist physician, at least 5 years out of residency training, and at least 2 years of leadership experience or training.
Responsibilities
The Hospitalist-Section Chief will be responsible for the following duties:
- Administrative oversight of the Hospitalist Section
- Direct supervision of Hospitalist physicians and advanced practice providers
- Initiation and oversight of inpatient quality improvement efforts
- Direct management of inpatients admitted to the Lake City VAMC
- Timely completion of clinical documentation in the electronic health medical records
- Clinical oversight of advanced practice providers
- Night and weekend coverage of inpatient medical teams as needed in emergent situations
Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
