The Lead Cook is a key member of our culinary team, responsible for ensuring the highest quality food preparation and presentation. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule and assign daily work activities to staff, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting production deadlines.
- Train and guide staff on job duties, food safety procedures, and cooking methods to maintain consistency and quality.
- Cook and prepare food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes, ensuring presentation and quality meet company standards.
- Set up workstations with necessary ingredients and equipment, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items, adhering to food safety protocols.
- Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers, following safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
- Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use various cooking methods to prepare meats, vegetables, and other foods, maintaining quality and presentation.
- Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines, ensuring visual appeal and customer satisfaction.
- Properly store food, adhering to food safety policies and procedures to prevent spoilage and contamination.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Maintain excellent customer service, providing a positive experience for guests, customers, and colleagues.
- Follow Aramark safety policies and procedures, including food safety and sanitation protocols, to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure security of company assets, maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
- Produce and maintain work schedules, preparing production records as needed.
- Previous supervisory experience in a related role preferred.
- Experience as a cook or related role required.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision required.
- Proven knowledge of basic food preparation principles, cooking methods, and food safety regulations.
- Food safety certification required.
- Demonstrated basic math and counting skills.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
This role may require physical demands, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking and standing. Uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
