We are in search of a dedicated and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist who is passionate about enhancing the lives of individuals within our community.

Role Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathologist will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of residents by developing and implementing tailored speech-language therapy plans as needed. This role includes conducting audiometric screenings and making recommendations for further audiology services when required. The focus is on maintaining the highest standards of care at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will:

  • Conduct screenings for communication disorders and perform thorough evaluations, providing written recommendations for therapy plans as necessary.
  • Coordinate audiometric screenings and refer residents for additional audiology evaluations or treatments when appropriate.
  • Initiate and manage speech-language therapy plans based on physician directives, maintaining regular communication with the physician throughout the therapy process.
  • Respect and uphold the rights of residents, treating them with dignity and compassion.
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries for all residents participating in speech-language therapy.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to address the unique needs of residents and integrate speech-language therapy with the goals of other disciplines.
  • Participate in Resident Care Planning and Family/Resident Care Plan Review meetings for residents in speech-language therapy.
  • Maintain comprehensive records, including statistical reports, in-service education details, budget information, and inventory of materials and equipment.
  • Prepare statistical reports for Medicare billing and complete assessment forms as required.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in mandatory or preferred in-service training sessions.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of in-service training programs for facility personnel involved in resident care.
  • Review and update speech-language policies and procedures annually, making necessary revisions.
  • Ensure program costs remain within the established annual budget.

Qualifications:

To be considered for the Speech-Language Pathologist position, you should possess:

  • A Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • A valid state license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Preferred Clinical Competence Certification from the American Speech and Hearing Association.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Demonstrated maturity, diplomacy, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Verification of qualifications by the State Department of Health.
  • Ability to meet established standards of excellence in performance.

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language at an intermediate or advanced level, as regular interaction with residents, coworkers, and supervisors is essential.
