Position Overview:

The Surgical Technologist II plays a vital role in the surgical team, assisting in the care and preparation of patients undergoing surgical procedures. This position requires the individual to effectively contribute to maintaining a sterile environment, which includes donning appropriate attire, ensuring the sterility of instruments, and providing necessary tools to the surgical team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate as a member of the sterile team during surgical operations.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient care by focusing on progression goals and quality initiatives.
  • Precept and mentor new staff and students in surgical technology practices.
  • Collaborate with service leaders to update clinical resources, including preferences and instrument lists.
  • Engage in committee participation as required to enhance departmental operations.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program.

Certification / License: Current CPR certification; Surgical Technologist Certification is required (consideration for certification obtained within 6 months); Membership in the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist is required, with a commitment to work at least 24 hours per week.
