Job Overview

Position Summary
The Facility Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing a range of cleaning, maintenance, and security functions to ensure that the premises are kept clean, organized, and secure. This role requires collaboration with a diverse team, fostering respectful communication and teamwork. The individual will engage with visitors, clients, and staff in a courteous and professional manner, recognizing the impact of their work on the overall environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and service interior spaces and exterior areas of the facilities, including restrooms, smoking zones, walkways, parking areas, entrances, living quarters, dining areas, and reception areas.
  • Oversee kitchen cleanliness, including the refrigerator and food preparation areas, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
  • Utilize various cleaning equipment to sweep, vacuum, mop, shampoo carpets and floors, and perform scrubbing, stripping, sanitizing, washing, and buffing of floors.
  • Collect and dispose of waste materials responsibly.
  • Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and surfaces, including blinds, cabinets, and vents.
  • Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, mirrors, and fixtures using appropriate ladders.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the premises to assess cleanliness and safety, identifying maintenance needs and reporting issues to management.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
  • Replace light bulbs and fuses as needed.
  • Perform outdoor maintenance tasks, including snow and ice removal, salting walkways, mowing small grass areas, and caring for plants.
  • Engage with staff, clients, and visitors in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Contribute as a team member during emergency situations, including drills and medical emergencies.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and report needs to management, suggesting improvements for facilities and equipment.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning methods, practices, tools, and equipment is essential.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and proper handling of cleaning chemicals is necessary.
  • Ability to follow instructions and comprehend written guidelines.
  • Capability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is required prior to commencing work.
