Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Coordinator to join our team at McLaren Health Care. As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring a smooth and efficient registration process for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately and efficiently perform registration and financial functions via Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, including thorough interviewing techniques, registering patients in appropriate status, and documenting demographic and financial data.
  • Greet customers promptly and provide a warm and friendly reception, ensuring a positive experience for all patients.
  • Collect, document, and scan all required demographic and financial information, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to compliance guidelines.
  • Direct patients to appropriate settings, explaining and apologizing for any delays, and maintaining professionalism and diplomacy at all times.
  • Estimate and collect copays, deductibles, and other patient financial obligations, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Manage all responsibilities within Compliance guidelines as outlined in the Hospital and Department Compliance Plans and in accordance with Meaningful Use requirements.
  • Apply recurring visit processing according to protocol and facilitate the use of electronic registration tools where available.
  • Perform duties otherwise assigned by Management, ensuring seamless integration with other departments.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-year experience in a customer service role or healthcare industry.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, Cerner, EPIC, or other EMR systems, Electronic Eligibility System, and various websites for third-party payers for verification is preferred.
  • Medical terminology preferred.
