Competitive Salary

During the initial license training, total compensation ranges from $159,000.00 to $182,000.00 annually (dependent on experience and prior license status), which includes a 15% annual incentive bonus, an initial sign-on bonus, and a $10,000 bonus distributed through training milestones, along with a comprehensive benefits package and a 401(k) with employer matching.

Upon obtaining the SRO license, total compensation increases to approximately $191,000.00 per year, which includes a 15% annual incentive bonus and additional pay for extended hours worked (calculated on an hourly basis) for mandated operational shift coverage.

Job Summary during Training for NRC License

The initial license trainee will participate in a blend of classroom instruction, simulator training, and practical experience to acquire the essential skills and knowledge required to qualify as a Senior Reactor Operator License holder.


Upon successful completion of the qualification process, the candidate will be fully licensed by the NRC to oversee the operations of the reactor control room.

Completion of Fundamentals Phase, Simulator Certification, acquisition of SRO status, and attainment of NRC SRO License (80%)
Study time and field experience required to achieve licensed status (10%)
Project work, outage assignments, or duties as assigned to support site operations (10%)

Job Responsibilities

Provide direct oversight of Constellation's Nuclear Power Generating Station operations, including directing Reactor Operators in managing plant operations and Equipment Operators in field activities, procedure usage, and tagging processes.

Authorize maintenance and testing activities to ensure equipment status is preserved.

Responsible for executing Emergency Operating Procedures and guiding the necessary procedural steps to stabilize the plant during emergency or abnormal situations.

Evaluate and address issues, findings, open items, and requests from both internal and external sources.
Oversee special projects as designated by the Operations Director/Operations Managers.

Accountable for creating, revising, and reviewing Emergency Operating Procedures and Abnormal Operating Procedures to support the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the Nuclear Generating Station Units.

Review design and license changes for procedural impact, conduct 10CFR50.59 applicability reviews, and perform Station Qualified Reviewer (SQR) reviews, while supporting outages and various special projects.

Review system documentation, including P&ID and design descriptions.
Provide operability assessments for systems, particularly during off-normal conditions.
Assist in developing refueling sequences and ensure systems are prepared for shutdown and refueling operations.

Direct operating shift personnel in performing plant duties, including standing watch on rotating 12-hour shifts and coordinating the operation of the nuclear power plant's systems.

Shift work, continuous training with periodic assessments, respirator qualification, and maintaining qualification as a member of the plant Fire Brigade are essential requirements for this position.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of the Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) and Basic Math and Science Test (BMST) pre-employment assessments
Must successfully complete a FLS Leadership Assessment

And meet or exceed one of the following: 1 year Reactor Operator license at a comparable facility or 1.5 years at a non-comparable facility.

Comparable is PWR to PWR or BWR to BWR; non-comparable is PWR to BWR or BWR to PWR.

1.5 years or more in a position equivalent to Reactor Operator (or Supervisor) at a military reactor (i.e., Power Plant Watch Engineer, Engineering Watch Supervisor, Reactor Operator, Engineering Officer of the Watch, Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor).

Must have 1.5 years after qualification.

Bachelor’s degree (BS) or equivalent in engineering, engineering technology, or physical sciences, or a professional engineer license, and more than 1.5 years as a qualified non-licensed operator or a supervisor or manager in work control, operations, engineering, outage management, maintenance, radiation protection, chemistry, or accredited training at a comparable (BWR or PWR) facility.

Managerial, staff engineer, or supervisor experience at a non-comparable plant may be credited on a 1.5:1.0 basis (i.e., over 2.25 years required for non-comparable facility), and 3 years required for a nontraditional degree.
