As a Concrete Mixer Operator, you will be responsible for transporting and delivering concrete to various construction sites. This role requires a strong focus on safety and adherence to regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a truck equipped with a concrete mixer to deliver concrete to designated locations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle in compliance with D.O.T. standards, ensuring all systems are functioning properly.
- Fill the water tank prior to each delivery to ensure proper mixing.
- Utilize maps and personal experience to determine the most efficient routes for timely deliveries.
- Safely navigate the truck to job sites, ensuring the concrete meets the required specifications.
- Handle the truck carefully in challenging ground conditions at construction sites.
- Add necessary materials at the plant or job site as required.
- Set up chutes for concrete discharge and ensure they are cleaned after use.
- Wash the truck at the end of each shift to maintain cleanliness and compliance.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch using a two-way radio.
- Be responsible for daily reporting of start times and perform post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Ability to pass a Federal Department of Transportation drug screening and physical examination.
- Maintain a driving record that complies with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations.
- Capability to handle cash transactions and provide change accurately.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact diplomatically with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to read and understand safety regulations, operational instructions, and maintenance manuals.
- Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Meet Department of Transportation health requirements.
- Average work hours are approximately 10 hours per day, 6 days a week.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and work in varying temperature conditions.
