This position is part of a dynamic, multi-specialty practice serving a diverse patient population. The Medical Assistant will receive comprehensive on-the-job training and will have opportunities for career advancement within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage patient schedules and facilitate patient flow. Escort patients to examination or procedure rooms and assist them with mobility, dressing, and preparation for examinations.
- Gather patient information and medical history, including vital signs and preliminary screenings as per provider protocols. Communicate instructions to patients and their families.
- Handle the transmission of patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and relevant regulations.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all instruments and equipment are ready according to departmental standards. Maintain cleanliness and infection control protocols between patient visits.
- Adhere to the guidelines set by regulatory bodies such as OSHA and CLIA, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with all organizational policies.
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic laboratory tests. Assist healthcare providers during procedures and accurately document patient information in medical records.
- Respond to incoming calls, providing essential information and patient education as directed.
- Coordinate the retrieval of lab and imaging reports, manage patient charts, and assist with appointment scheduling and insurance verification.
- Under physician supervision, administer medications and vaccines as required.
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with fundamental computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology and clinical responsibilities.
Licensure and Certifications:
- CPR certification in accordance with AHA standards, including both theoretical and practical components.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Compliance with Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 clearances, with renewals as necessary.
