Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Hospital Operator to join our team at Norwalk Hospital Association. As a key member of our customer service team, you will be responsible for answering and routing incoming calls to the hospital's main number, emergency lines, and patient information lines.

You will demonstrate service excellence by providing accurate information regarding the Hospital, its patients, and staff while ensuring adherence to all Hospital policies and procedures, especially those regarding privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities
  • Answer main number and patient information calls in a timely fashion, exhibiting strong customer service skills and resulting in service excellence for the caller.
  • Implement code protocols accurately as written in the department Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Maintain up-to-date databases and on-call schedules to provide requested information accurately and efficiently.
  • Document and maintain code logs in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Participate in establishment and achievement of department goals.
  • Establish and maintain efficient working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, and customers.
  • Maintain and model Nuvance Health Values.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
Requirements
  • HS Graduate or Equivalent with a minimum of 6 months job-related experience.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Strong telephone and customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm during stressful situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook skills.
  • Telephone switchboard experience.
Working Conditions

This is a sedentary/light effort position that may exert up to 10 lbs. force. The working conditions are generally pleasant.
