Sushi Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sushi Associate to join our team at Marukai Corp. in San Diego. As a Sushi Associate, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality sushi products to our customers.

• Process, cut, and wrap sushi items to meet quality and presentation standards
• Maintain a well-organized back stock and cooler area
• Package sushi products for sale
• Prepare food items according to recipes and measure ingredients accurately
• Communicate effectively with store management, associates, and suppliers/vendors
• Maintain cleanliness of the store and store upkeep
• Ensure proper presentation of sushi items and provide excellent customer service
• Unload deli items upon vendor deliveries
• Check product temperature to ensure freshness and quality

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds, or their substitutes, substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment
• Must be able to use job-related equipment such as slicers, scales, saws, knives, and wrappers
• No experience required, but a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred
• Possess a CA Food Handling license or the ability to acquire one
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without aid

As a Sushi Associate, you will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with extreme temperatures. You will be required to maintain a clean and safe work environment, including adhering to proper food handling and preparation procedures.

Providing premier customer service is essential to this role. You will be responsible for greeting customers, responding to questions, and engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques to meet or exceed department sales goals.

As a Store Support Associate, you will be open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all departments and similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities.
