Job Title: Fully Remote K-12 Sign Language Interpreter, Vermont

Location: Fully Remote in Vermont

Duration: Entire 24/25 School year

We are seeking a passionate and qualified Sign Language Interpreter Teacher to provide instructional support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This position will be fully remote, collaborating with classroom teachers and other educators to facilitate communication and support the learning needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation services during virtual classes, meetings, and other educational activities.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other educators to facilitate communication and support the learning needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and communication assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Sign Language Interpretation, or related field.
  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or equivalent credential.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with a strong understanding of deaf culture and communication methods.
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using technology for remote instruction and communication.
  • Active licensure in the state of Vermont.
