Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during various treatment procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays) to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Obtain patients' medical histories, take vital signs, and maintain accurate records.
  • Implement infection control protocols, preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Provide exceptional patient care, making patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their treatment.
  • Teach patients proper oral hygiene techniques, including tooth brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling.
  • Take impressions of patients' teeth for study casts, aiding in treatment planning and patient education.
  • Perform administrative tasks, utilizing a personal computer to manage patient records and communicate with suppliers.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Dental Assistant, with a certificate from an accredited college or technical school.
  • Basic skills certificate, with expanded functions qualified by experience or certificate.
  • State of South Carolina Radiology Dental Certification.
  • Three to six months of related experience in training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, patients, and other healthcare providers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
