In this role, you will be expected to exercise creativity and judgment in the independent assessment, selection, and significant adaptation of established techniques, procedures, and criteria. Your responsibilities will include gaining experience and familiarity with engineering methodologies, independent thought processes, and company policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Control Systems Development: Design, enhance, and optimize control systems for various electrical and electromechanical applications, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Programming and Execution: Create control algorithms, develop code for PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), PACs (Programmable Automation Controllers), and other control devices, while overseeing system integration.
- Testing and Assurance: Perform comprehensive testing, verification, and validation of control systems to confirm compliance with design specifications and operational requirements.
- Documentation and Communication: Generate detailed technical documentation, including specifications, manuals, testing procedures, and reports to support engineering initiatives and project milestones.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to effectively achieve project objectives.
- Troubleshooting and Assistance: Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and maintenance phases, diagnosing and resolving issues related to control systems.
- Continuous Enhancement: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, cost efficiencies, and performance enhancements related to control systems.
- Project Leadership: Assume total project leadership responsibilities for significant projects and manage smaller projects independently.
- Technical Expertise: Develop expertise in sterilization validations and quality requirements for processes, equipment, and associated software, while ensuring compliance with FDA or regulatory standards.
- Risk Management: Recognize potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate delays and resource expenditures.
- Mentorship: Proactively advise team members on technical concepts and promote skill development within the team.
- External Engagement: Manage frequent interactions with inter-organizational and external customer contacts, providing solutions to complex technical challenges.
- Technical Feedback: Adhere to technical specifications and provide constructive feedback on various technical processes and procedures.
- Effective Presentation: Communicate complex technical information clearly and respond to inquiries from technical staff and management.
- Team Dynamics: Collaborate effectively within a team environment to achieve shared goals, often influencing team outcomes.
- Supervisory Role: May provide direction to technicians and junior engineers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience that enables successful performance of essential job functions.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in GMP manufacturing.
Skills:
- Expertise in control system design principles, including PID control, motion control, and system modeling.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus).
- Familiarity with software tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, or similar for simulation and modeling.
- Knowledge of industrial automation, manufacturing processes, and safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E, NEC).
- Demonstrated skills in technical innovation, leadership, and engineering disciplines.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication, cross-functional collaboration, mentoring, and project management.
- Proficient problem-solving abilities.
- Mechanical and electronic aptitude for assisting with sterilization process equipment troubleshooting.
- Understanding of GMP practices and FDA regulations.
- Ability to implement FDA or regulatory requirements as necessary.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in relevant PC software applications.
- Knowledge of electrical One-Line drawings and P&IDs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position based in a general labor environment, requiring the use of personal protective equipment, and involving activities such as reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, hand/finger dexterity, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, or transporting up to 500 pounds using carts or mechanized equipment.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Target Pay Range: $107,000.00 to $133,000. Salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and market alignment.
Target Bonus on Base: 7.0%
