Job Summary

Catholic Health System is seeking a skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team in Cheektowaga. As a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing technically adequate echocardiogram examinations, adhering to practice protocol, and working closely with interpreting physicians to ensure accurate diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examination and Data Preparation: Perform echocardiogram examinations, including Doppler and color flow, and prepare all necessary data for interpreting physicians.
  • Patient Assessment and Communication: Assess patients, review medical history, and communicate effectively with patients and families to ensure accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Ensure adherence to IAC Echocardiography standards and maintain accurate records of examinations and patient data.
Requirements
  • Education: AAS degree or Certificate in Cardiac Sonography required; Bachelor's degree in Cardiac Sonography preferred.
  • Certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer/Registered Cardiac Sonographer - credentialed through the A.R.D.M.S or C.C.I.
  • Experience: Previous Cardiac Sonographer experience with 1000 hours recent clinical cardiac ultrasound; preferred a minimum 1 (one) year experience in Adult Echocardiography.
Working Conditions
  • Travel and Equipment Transport: Required to travel to other TM affiliated locations and transport equipment from area to area within the practice.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to transport equipment to the patient bedside and be exposed to infectious disease processes.
Environmental Factors
  • Lighting and Temperature: Frequently required to work in rooms with low-level lighting or inappropriate lighting and subjected to variations in temperature secondary to excess heat generated by ultrasound machines.
  • Patient Interactions: Exposure to patients who may be confused or combative.
