We are seeking a skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in providing quality care for the patient population seen in the physician office.
- Perform all essential and secondary functions, including recording patient vitals and chief complaints, and completing Electronic Health Record duties.
- Triage patients and assist providers with patient care.
- Obtain, label, and document specimens, and perform EKGs, urine drug screens, and other procedures as needed.
- Administer vaccines, injections, and medications according to physician order and direction.
- Perform venipuncture and point of care testing, and maintain sterile fields.
- Assist providers with procedures, and relay instructions to patients based on provider specifications.
- Maintain infection control and standard precautions, and conduct and document quality control measures.
- Create new patient charts, and document in real-time under the direction of the provider.
- Provide phone coverage, review messages, and return calls as needed.
- Clean rooms, workstations, and equipment as directed in policy and procedures.
- Order, stock, and maintain medical supplies, and educate and train patients on home monitors or equipment.
- Submit requests for authorizations, referrals, and Rx refills as directed by the provider.
- Relay information via phone to patients related to follow-up testing and procedure results, and instructions.
- Display proper etiquette and mannerisms that reflect the SHINE Behavior standards.
- Promote the Patient Safety Standards as a core value of the organization.
- Medical Assistant Resident or Certified Medical Assistant certification.
- Basic computer skills, and experience in a healthcare field (preferably two years).
- IV or phlebotomy experience (preferably two years).
- CPR/BLS certification (required within 30 days of hire).
- NCCT Medical Assistant Certification (required within 90 days of hire).
This is a safety-sensitive position, and the employee will be exposed to contact with chemicals and contact with infectious fluids.
Physical motions include finger dexterity, standing, walking, stooping, crawling, talking, reaching, feeling, sitting, bending, kneeling, climbing, grasping, listening/hearing, handling, lifting up to pounds, and repetitive motions of the hands, wrists, and feet.
