Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our Pediatric Transport team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care to critically ill or injured patients, including neonates, pediatrics, and adults with pediatric chronic diseases, in a mobile environment.

Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist - Pediatric Transport will be responsible for the accurate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of respiratory care for assigned patients under the direction of the Transport Medical Control Physician. This role requires a strong understanding of clinical situations, comprehensive knowledge and experience in respiratory care, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive respiratory care to critically ill or injured patients, including neonates, pediatrics, and adults with pediatric chronic diseases, in a mobile environment.
  • Accurately assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care for assigned patients under the direction of the Transport Medical Control Physician.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care for patients, taking into account their unique needs and circumstances.
  • Collaborate with the Transport RN and Transport Medical Control Physician to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices and advancements in respiratory care.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety and quality by identifying and reporting potential risks and hazards, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of Illinois.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric respiratory care, with a focus on transport medicine.
  • Strong understanding of clinical situations and comprehensive knowledge and experience in respiratory care.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and supplies as needed.
