Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, oversee, assess, and lead the activity programs within the facility.
  • Assist in the formulation, administration, and coordination of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed about current federal and state regulations, economic trends, and professional standards, providing recommendations for policy and procedural updates to the Administrator.
  • Conduct annual reviews of departmental policies and procedures, as well as workforce evaluations, and contribute to suggested modifications.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures for identifying the medically related activity needs of residents.
  • Engage in the planning, development, and execution of activity care plans, resident assessments, and interdisciplinary care strategies.
  • Fulfill administrative duties, including the completion of necessary documentation and reports, and submit these to the Administrator as required.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Certified Activities Professional credential.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in Activities/Therapeutic Recreation.
  • At least 2 years of experience in recreation within a long-term care environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting a person-centered care approach to meet the unique needs and preferences of each resident.
  • A genuine passion for enhancing quality of life for residents.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, their families, and healthcare team members.
