Position Overview

The Interventional Radiology Technologist plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, providing exceptional support in the Interventional Radiology department. This position involves a variety of responsibilities that ensure the smooth operation of radiological procedures.

  • Common Imaging Procedures: Involvement in all interventional radiology procedures, including neuro IR and vascular interventions. Responsibilities include scrubbing in and circulating during procedures, as well as participating in the on-call team.
  • Daily Case Load: Average of 10-20 cases per day, with stroke cases varying from 1-4 per week. Typically, there are 2 IR techs assigned per room.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year required, with preference for candidates with travel experience and experience in stroke receiving facilities.
  • Department Equipment: Philips systems utilized.
  • Orientation: Travelers will be assigned a preceptor for their first week.
Job Requirements
  • BLS Certification and ARRT (R) Verification
  • Washington State License (IV certification preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience required, with preference for travel experience and stroke receiving facility experience.
Schedule Information
  • Shifts: 4-10 hour shifts with rotating days off. Shifts typically start at 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM or 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • Weeknight/Call Requirements: 1-2 days per week, with weeknight call from 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  • Weekend/Call Requirements: On-call one weekend per month, with a group of 9 techs sharing call responsibilities. Call starts Friday at 6:00 PM and ends Monday at 7:00 AM.
  • Holiday/Call Requirement: Must work if scheduled on a holiday, with holiday pay provided.
  • Response Time: 30 minutes required for call or standby situations.
Unit Specific Information
  • Department Rooms: 3 rooms available - 2 biplane and 1 single plane, with one room always kept open for stroke cases. Hybrid OR available with CT/IR scanner.
  • Floating/Additional Coverage: Hybrid OR experience is not mandatory.
  • IV Start Requirements: IVs will be handled by IR RNs.
  • Dress Code: Scrubs will be provided for all staff.
