Core Responsibilities
The Assembler II plays a crucial role in assembling PGM and customer components according to detailed schematics, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools. This position involves assembling, disassembling, and modifying mechanical systems and subassemblies by adhering to specific guidelines. Attention to detail is paramount to prevent damage to operators, products, or equipment during operations. The role may also require making necessary equipment adjustments to ensure optimal production quality and conducting visual inspections for defects.

Key Duties Include:

  • Assembling and disassembling large shelters, intricate subassemblies, chassis, and mechanical components using pneumatic tools, riveters, and riv nut tools.
  • Reviewing modification and rework instructions, engineering change orders, and preliminary rework notices.
  • Modifying or reworking mechanical assemblies by removing, repairing, and replacing parts, cables, or harnesses.
  • Routing large cables and harnesses in Radar Systems, including AC outlet wiring.
  • Operating various power tools for the assembly of hardware as specified in parts lists.
  • Performing paint touch-ups on assemblies prior to shipment using spray guns and airbrushes.
  • Utilizing torches and plastic body filler to repair sheet metal punctures.
  • Applying adhesives to gaskets and grommets, and working from mechanical blueprints, process sheets, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Understanding basic Vantage system for time reporting and basic SPC for data collection and analysis.
  • Assisting other department operators as needed and performing any other assigned duties as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are required:

  • Education: One-year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations and the ability to apply these skills in practical scenarios.
  • Reasoning Ability: Capability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in various formats and to address problems involving concrete variables.
  • Other Skills: High mechanical aptitude and good motor skills.

Physical Demands
The physical demands required for this position include regular use of hands for handling and feeling, frequent standing, and occasional walking and sitting. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
