Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Technician to join our team at Ryder System in Springfield, MA.

Job Summary:

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on heavy duty vehicles, including oil changes, brake and tire work.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer tools.
  • Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks and interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints.
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred.
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred.
  • All other certification as required by location, required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, and facility maintenance duties.
  • Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of complaints.
  • Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available.
  • Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines.
