Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Avionics System Engineer to join our team at Greenpoint Technologies. As an expert in avionics design and engineering, you will be responsible for creating advanced designs of avionics systems, including cabin system components, in-flight entertainment, communication systems, LED cabin lighting, AC/DC power systems, and products that meet customer criteria.

About the Role:

  • Create master drawing lists of avionics systems drawings and documents for project-level STC.
  • Define avionics and electrical system architecture requirements and definition for VIP/VVIP aircraft.
  • Design wire diagrams and preliminary wire routing utilizing engineering drafting tools.
  • Review completed drawing packages from peers and approve them for release.
  • Develop verification and test procedures to comply with the latest FAA design requirements.
  • Support installation of systems via liaison with modification facilities, identify root cause issues, capture redline updates, resolve design issues, and update drawings to meet schedules.
  • Interface with customers (internal and external), FAA designees, and vendors during entire projects to ensure designs meet all requirements.
  • Participate in project bid processes to capture engineering and design requirements for bid estimates and firm price quotes to customers.
  • Participate in project scheduling of avionics systems to ensure accuracy to major milestones and deliverables.
  • Prepare design checklists, templates, and other processes as needed.
  • May perform as functional 'Focal' for groups on specific projects.
  • Maintain close coordination with project engineers to comply with schedules and costs of projects.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers on technical designs or processes.
  • Maintain regular attendance, including being at work, being on time to work, and working full shifts.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Extensive technical knowledge of Boeing aircraft for VIP and/or commercial models.
  • Strong working knowledge of My Boeing Fleet for OEM data sets.
  • Thorough knowledge of power distribution.
  • Thorough understanding of the certification and electrical design process.
  • Ability to provide complex layouts and program design studies.
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to successfully interface with customers on projects.
  • Competent use of CAD and data management systems.
  • Ability to understand and derive multiple customer standard electrical system requirements.
  • Ability to work well independently and cross-functionally across multiple organizations.
  • Ability to coach and motivate teams of engineers.
  • Experience leading employees/teams in productive and efficient manners.
  • Strong communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, use hands to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and have close/color vision ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to work outside of core business hours as required.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to meet high expectations for meeting strict schedules, budgets, and technical solutions.
  • Ability to adapt and lead tailored processes designed for prototype engineering (vs. production engineering).
  • Demonstrate technical expertise under strict deadlines with minimal margin of error.
  • Extensively broad and diverse knowledge of:
    • Avionics: Locating, provisioning, and installations for LRUs (electrical equipment), 3D wire routing adhering to aircraft system separation requirements.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification:

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in aerospace or electrical engineering desired; minimum of eight years relevant aerospace experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Aircraft interior and/or VIP retrofit experience preferred.
