About the Role

This per diem position involves working rotating shifts with up to 4 hours per week. You will be responsible for providing routine direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with examinations and procedures, ensuring timely access to equipment and supplies.
  • In psychiatric settings, support patients in reality orientation, participate in behavior modification plans, provide informal therapy, and facilitate therapeutic milieu activities.
  • Collect and document patient information while providing care, reporting significant changes to registered nurses or physicians.
  • Provide assistance during patient admissions, orientations, and discharges, offering personalized support and care.
  • Deliver care and treatments as outlined in patient plans, including vital sign measurements, specimen collection, skin preps, catheter care, capillary blood glucose checks, simple wound care, and postural drainage.
  • Offer direct personal care for routine activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation.
  • Perform indirect care tasks like cleaning work areas, changing linens, re-stocking supplies, cleaning/sterilizing instruments, transporting patients/supplies/specimens, and assisting new employees and students.
  • Reinforce teaching provided by registered nurses or physicians, documenting patient understanding and distributing education materials upon request.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have basic computer skills and be fluent in verbal and written English language. Listed as a Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required. A preference is given to those with six months of nursing assistant experience.

Benefits

This per diem position offers an estimated hourly salary range of $17.00-$23.46, with pay determined by experience and internal equity. Exempt from overtime, this opportunity provides flexible scheduling with a rotating shift pattern.
