Job Summary:

The Child Welfare Investigative Specialist is responsible for investigating criminal conduct reports involving allegations of felony child abuse and/or neglect. This role conducts home visits, documents interviews, testifies in court, and assists staff in navigating various registries and databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and investigate criminal conduct reports generated by the Child Abuse Hotline.
  • Conduct interviews, collect documents, and record interactions in the Statewide Automated - Child Welfare Information Systems.
  • Testify in court regarding child welfare investigations.
  • Assist on cases involving allegations of child abuse resulting in serious injury or death, providing assistance related to strategies and techniques used when performing sensitive investigations of child abuse and neglect.
  • Attend high-profile staffing meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
  • Azizona Law related to Special Victims, Forensics, Homicide, Domestic Violence, Missing Persons, or a closely related law enforcement unit.
  • Multi-disciplinary approach, including Child and Family Advocacy Centers.
  • Child Welfare practices.
  • Policy pertaining to abuse and neglect of children.
  • Conducting high-profile, complex, and sensitive investigations.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have 2 years of law enforcement/Detective/Investigative experience specializing in crimes against children and sex crimes, or 18 months of experience as an Investigative DCS Specialist with AZ Department of Child Safety.

Salary:

The estimated salary for this position is between $60,000 and $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
