Overview
This is a temporary hourly position.

Under the supervision of a designated manager, carry out standard custodial tasks at a designated educational facility or other District locations; ensure that buildings and surrounding grounds are maintained in a clean, organized, and secure manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Individuals in the Janitorial Services Associate role perform a range of routine cleaning duties to maintain the cleanliness and safety of an assigned educational facility or other District properties.

Core Duties
Conduct routine cleaning tasks at a designated educational facility during assigned shifts; sweep, scrub, mop, wax, and polish floors; vacuum carpets and rugs in classrooms, offices, and other areas; spot clean and shampoo carpets as necessary.

Maintain cleanliness in classrooms, lounges, offices, and other facilities as assigned; empty waste containers; spot mop and clean spills; remove debris and graffiti as required.

Sanitize drinking fountains and restroom facilities including sinks, toilets, and urinals; restock dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper, and other supplies; clean mirrors, tiles, and windows.

Replace light bulbs and tubes; clean chalkboards and erasers; empty pencil sharpeners.

Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and woodwork; perform minor repairs to furniture as needed.

Secure and unlock doors and gates as necessary; maintain the security of assigned areas according to established protocols; set and deactivate alarms as appropriate.

Report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards to the appropriate authority; notify of maintenance needs; respond to urgent custodial requests as required.

Move and arrange furniture and equipment; prepare classrooms, gyms, and multi-purpose rooms for special events or meetings; set up chairs, tables, bleachers, and other furniture and equipment for events; clean up after these events.

Utilize custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines, blowers, and other tools.

Participate in thorough cleaning and restoration of campus facilities during breaks as assigned.

Perform minor grounds maintenance tasks as assigned.

Execute related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to: at least six months of relevant experience.

Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of:
Effective methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in modern custodial practices.
Contemporary cleaning methods including basic techniques for cleaning floors, blackboards, carpets, furniture, walls, and fixtures.
Proper storage methods for equipment, materials, and supplies.
Requirements for maintaining District buildings in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
Appropriate safety measures and procedures.
Proper lifting techniques.

Ability to:
Carry out routine custodial tasks at a designated educational facility or other District property.
Maintain District buildings and surrounding grounds in a clean, organized, and secure manner.
Utilize cleaning materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
Operate various custodial equipment, such as vacuums, mops, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines.
Keep tools and equipment in clean working order.
Arrange furniture and equipment for meetings and special events.
Observe and report safety hazards and maintenance needs.
Perform minor non-technical repairs.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Meet schedules and deadlines.
Work collaboratively with others.
Meet the essential physical requirements of this position, including the ability to lift at least 75 pounds.
Successful completion of a fitness for duty physical including drug screening.
