Job OverviewThis role involves managing and performing environmental impact studies, including NEPA/SEQRA/CEQR, MEPA, and CEPA documents, as well as sustainability planning for urban infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities- Manage planning projects as a Project Manager or task leader
- Conduct extensive research, data collection, analysis, and preparation of written technical documentation on land use, policy, demographics, hazard, risk, and vulnerability
- Write and develop comprehensive planning documents and sustainability strategies
- Collaborate with other Subject Matter Experts to complete comprehensive environmental documents and prepare ULURP applications
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local officials, community groups, academia, private sector, and public stakeholders in developing plans
- Assist with planning and facilitating meetings, workshops, stakeholder outreach, public meetings, and open houses
- Develop graphics and templates associated with written plans and reports
- Experience with environmental and transportation data gathering, analysis, and presentation
- BS or BA in planning, environmental studies, or a related field; MS preferred
- 7-10 years of regional environmental planning experience
- Strong written and oral communication and data management/visualization skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus
- Ability to be self-motivated and function both independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Well-developed time management skills, especially the ability to complete high-quality, detail-oriented deliverables on tight timelines amid competing deadlines within a diverse work group
- Ability to exercise initiative, resourcefulness, and tact in obtaining and analyzing information
- Experience researching, planning, and developing plans, policies, procedures, and/or guidance
- Ability to synthesize, analyze, and organize complex information into a clear and coherent description
