Senior Lifeguard

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lifeguard to join our team at Bainbridge Island Metro Park and Recreation District. As a Senior Lifeguard, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment for our patrons.

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area and enforce facility rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all patrons.
• Provide first aid and CPR as needed, and respond quickly and decisively in emergency situations.
• Ensure pool chemistry is in balance and safe for swimmers, and perform regular water tests to maintain optimal water quality.
• Identify and mitigate potential hazards, and take proactive measures to prevent accidents.
• Lead and mentor other lifeguards, providing guidance and support to ensure a high level of service delivery.
• Perform administrative tasks, including data entry, updating spreadsheets, and logging in and out of the computerized timesheet system.
• Communicate effectively with patrons, staff, and management, and provide excellent customer service.

• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, or willingness to obtain it.
• Strong swimming skills and ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
• Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergency situations, and perform rescue actions as needed.
• Basic computer skills and ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently or in a team, and lead staff as needed.

This is a non-smoking workplace, and the work environment is mainly indoors. The physical demands of this job include long periods of sitting or standing in a hot, humid, and noisy environment, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
