About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Administrator to join our team at the City of Garland. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and implementing information security programs for all GPL information systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and develop security policies and procedures that comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Review system and application architecture from a security perspective.
  • Conduct periodic security assessments and monitoring of security-related logs and events.
  • Manage daily review and identification of cybersecurity vulnerabilities and recommend solutions.
  • Develop and deliver security-related training and interpret and guide the development of cybersecurity requirements.
Requirements
  • 4-year college degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 7 years of experience building, designing, and managing an electric utility cyberinfrastructure.
  • IT Security certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM or ability to obtain one in a year.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 3-5 years of managerial experience in Operational Technology (Electric utility Generation, Transmission and Substation systems).
  • Extensive knowledge of NIST/CIS security framework and hands-on experience using security-related tools and applications.
