OBJECTIVE:
The Automotive Service Technician is tasked with executing vehicle repairs and maintenance as assigned, adhering to dealership and manufacturer standards. This role also includes supervising any apprentice technicians assigned to the technician.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive and review repair orders from the service dispatcher.
- Perform assigned tasks as detailed in the repair order with precision and efficiency, following dealership and manufacturer protocols.
- Diagnose issues and execute necessary repairs.
- Coordinate with the parts department to procure required components.
- Tag and save parts for warranty jobs or as requested by clients.
- Inspect vehicles to identify any additional safety or service requirements.
- Inform the service advisor promptly if further work is necessary, if the outlined work is unnecessary, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe.
- Document all work completed accurately.
- Conduct road tests on vehicles when necessary or refer to a test technician, ensuring customer vehicles are not used for personal purposes.
- Oversee the work of apprentice technicians as assigned. Participate in factory-sponsored training sessions and stay updated on factory technical bulletins.
- Maintain cleanliness of customer vehicles and ensure the shop area is tidy, while being accountable for all dealership-owned tools.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to pass a drug screening.
- Must successfully complete a background check.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Capability to read and understand instructions and information.
- ASE certification is preferred.
- General mechanical aptitude is essential.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Manual dexterity is required.
- Strong judgment skills are necessary.
