Job Overview

Position Summary:

KLLM Transport Services is in search of experienced instructors to educate aspiring drivers at our Driving Academy. The role involves training students in Over the Road (OTR) driving techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive instruction on semi-truck and trailer operations within the Driving Academy framework.
  • Adapt to a flexible work schedule, including mandatory rotational Saturdays.
  • Conduct classroom theory sessions and provide practical 'driver operation' training.
  • Assess and document student performance, evaluate driving competencies, and maintain training records.
  • Adhere to an established curriculum with clear, measurable objectives.
  • Offer guidance and support to students regarding training-related issues, equipment, and resources.
  • Design, implement, and refine competency-based vocational training programs as needed.
  • Effectively manage and inspire students to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Work independently with minimal oversight.

Qualifications:

  • Fulfill all employment standards set by KLLM Transport Services.
  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of recent driving experience with verifiable OTR tractor/trailer background.
  • Hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • Successfully pass DOT drug screening and physical examination.
  • Have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate a strong record of safety in semi-truck and trailer operations.
  • Exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Be capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Apply industry-standard practices specific to driving instruction.
  • Effectively supervise and train students.
  • Utilize instructional strategies and techniques relevant to the subject matter.
  • Select and evaluate instructional materials and equipment.
  • Possess basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
