Job Overview:


The primary responsibilities of the Assembly Technician I involve constructing, wiring, and assembling generator sets according to engineering specifications and the directives of the assembly supervisor.

This encompasses the installation of mechanical components through to the final electrical wiring.

Essential Qualifications:
(Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. A combination of education and relevant work experience will be taken into account.
  • Previous assembly-related experience is required, which may include field service, maintenance of heavy machinery, upkeep of power generation equipment, mechanical, or general construction experience.
  • Ability to read measuring instruments to the nearest 1/16th of an inch is necessary.
  • Proficiency in using basic hand tools is essential.
  • Electrical experience is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble intricate electrical and mechanical sub-assemblies in accordance with drawings, bills of materials, schematics, and/or established procedures.
  • Utilize engineering documents and schematics to assist in the assembly of mechanical components and the wiring of controls and house power.
  • Interpret electrical diagrams for both house power and communication wiring, ensuring proper landing and labeling of wiring in relevant panels.
  • Securely mount generator sets on their skids using appropriate hardware while adhering to torque specifications.
  • Install all necessary stands to the skid and position components accurately.
  • Connect exhaust components using the correct hardware and gaskets, ensuring all torque requirements are met.
  • Fabricate load cables using the appropriate gauge wire, lugs, and proper crimping techniques.
  • Create CAN harnesses, fuel lines, and block heater hoses as needed.
  • Install all phases of load cables, bend and install conduit, and assemble complex systems as required.
  • Demonstrate skills in electrical wire and cable routing, understanding standard wiring practices related to quality.
  • Effectively use crimping tools, stripping tools, multimeters, and hand tools such as wrenches and torque wrenches.
  • Collaborate with team members to coordinate daily tasks and align priorities for efficient assembly operations.
  • Possess troubleshooting skills, which may involve drilling and tapping holes, crimping, screwing, bolting, riveting, and mounting control units to ensure proper fit and function.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed based on business requirements.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
This role requires standing, stooping, bending, and the ability to lift up to 50lbs. Manual dexterity is essential for manipulating tools and small machine parts.

This position operates in a general manufacturing environment, which may include non-climate-controlled workspaces.
