Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Nurse Assistant to join our team at Oak Lawn Hometown School District 123. As a School Health Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing direct health care services to students, maintaining accurate health records, and communicating effectively with staff and parents/guardians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide limited direct health care/first aid to students, including emergency care as necessary under the direction of the nurse.
  • Identify and report suspected victims of child abuse to the appropriate officials and agencies.
  • Refers students requiring medication administration and/or diabetic management to the nurse on site.
  • Maintains current and accurate health records, including documentation of student visits and alerts the nurse to any serious health problems.
  • Assists with vision and hearing screenings, prepares log sheets for state-mandated populations, and audits screening results.
  • Orders necessary health office supplies as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with staff and parents/guardians regarding health care needs and maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and current Illinois Certified Nurses' Assistant (CNA) license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Previous experience and skills as requested by the building principal.
Working Conditions

The School Health Assistant will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, staff, and parents/guardians. The ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time and regular attendance are essential for this role.
