## Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Optical Systems Engineer to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As an expert in optical systems, you will provide technical leadership to support new product development and innovation for instrumentation used in genetic analysis.

## Key Responsibilities

* Understand customers and represent their needs in optical system product requirements
* Partner with product management to translate customer needs into optical system requirements
* Architect and design optical systems
* Develop optical models, analyze optical tolerance stack-ups, and lead sensitivity analysis
* Partner with the Operations team to transfer optical system design to manufacturing

## Requirements

* BS/MS/Ph.D. degree in a Optical Engineering field, Applied Physics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
* 10+ years in a technical leadership role focused on optical systems
* Considerable experience in developing moderate complexity RUO instrumentation
* Has been optics lead or sub-team lead through at least two product development cycles which incorporate fluorescent based imaging systems
* Experience building, and maintaining optics lab

* Competitive salary range estimated for this position based in California is $163,100.00–$217,400.00
