The Program Specialist I functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics depending on which unit worked.
This role works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and is responsible for taking and recording vital signs properly, utilizing sound judgment during assessment, observing and documenting any changes in a patient's appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals, communicating changes in patient's condition to the charge nurse, and following the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide continuous patient care and supervision to patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics.
- Take and record vital signs properly and utilize sound judgment during assessment.
- Observe and document any changes in a patient's appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals.
- Communicate changes in patient's condition to the charge nurse.
- Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient.
Requirements:
High School Degree or equivalent; or Certified Nursing Assistant; preferred. Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness preferred.
